Position Overview:
Join a dynamic team where you'll collaborate closely with seasoned investors boasting decades of global investment experience. The projects are executed in small, cross-functional pods, fostering collaboration among portfolio managers, research analysts, and engineers/developers. This fast-paced team operates with a flexible mandate, investing across diverse markets such as commodities, public equities, fixed income, environmental markets, derivatives, and cryptocurrencies. The data analyst role demands independent problem-solving skills, the ability to tackle complex challenges, and adaptability to shifting priorities and projects.
Technology Experience:
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and dbt, with a proven track record of writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code
- Experience with Airflow and Docker is advantageous
- Required experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS
- Hands-on experience with reporting and self-service dashboard technologies, and data visualization tools like Streamlit, Plotly, Power BI, or Tableau
- Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL
- Skilled in building and maintaining data pipelines and transformations
- Understanding of the software development lifecycle
- Familiarity with source control (Git) and CI/CD processes
- Proficiency in current web scraping technologies
- Knowledge of Kimball/Star schema data warehousing design is a plus
- Familiarity with web and/or front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.JS) is a plus
- Experience with GitHub Copilot or other AI development productivity tools is preferred
Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical training and professional experience
- 2-5 years of professional experience in software application development
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey technology concepts to non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs into technical requirements
- Prior experience in the Financial Services industry or a demonstrated interest in Finance, Economics, and/or Accounting is preferred but not required
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Interest in emerging technologies and a proven ability to learn new platforms, techniques, and programming languages
- Ownership and pride in end-to-end project delivery, with a continuous learning mindset and enthusiasm for tackling complex problems
