Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Controller aspiring to be CFO. The Controller will oversee the company's financial operations, create and maintain financial reports, develop budgets, prepare financial statements, and work with the sales and operations teams to establish ongoing operating metrics. The role also includes managing payroll and other administrative responsibilities. Collaboration with the executive team and other members of the sales and operations teams is essential. The salary for this position is competitive and will be discussed based on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain policies, procedures, and practices for all accounting-related functions, including cost accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit policies, billing, general ledger, and fixed asset accounting.
- Collaborate with the operations team to develop and maintain manufacturing accounting and inventory systems.
- Play an integral role in the annual budgeting and goal-setting process for the operations and sales teams.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate business KPIs and other metrics for the manufacturing and sales teams based on goals set by senior leadership.
- Manage and process typical business transactions, including AP transactions, billing, A/R invoices, and cash collection/receipts.
- Manage customer credit and communicate with customers and suppliers regarding invoicing/payment issues.
- Ensure accurate job costing via ERP system and maintain inventory records.
- Monitor departmental budget compliance and work with stakeholders.
- Update and manage fixed asset accounting in the ERP system, including preparing depreciation schedules.
- Manage and maintain the document retention program for the company, including accounting, contracts, HR, and EHS records.
- Oversee environmental compliance reporting and coordinate with senior leadership.
- Perform other incidental and related duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Proficiency in ERP accounting software, MS Office applications, and Office 365.
- Strong organizational skills, decision-making, initiative, project management, problem-solving/analysis, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Education & Work Experience
- Minimum bachelor's degree in accounting.
- 5+ years of experience in the field.
- CPA and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Cost accounting experience is a plus.
Physical Demands
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, listen, and talk on a continual basis.
- Movement throughout the manufacturing areas required.
- Ability to travel to multiple locations regularly.
