Role Overview: My client is seeking a skilled Actuary to join their team, focusing on developing and refining actuarial analyses with an emphasis on personal lines pricing. In alignment with CAS (Casualty Actuarial Society) principles, this role plays a pivotal part in driving the performance of the actuarial department, specifically targeting assigned states. The Actuary will also have the opportunity to influence other departments and contribute to the overall success of the organization. This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can maintain and improve complex analytical processes, ensuring their accuracy and relevance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute actuarial analyses, particularly in pricing, ensuring adherence to CAS principles.
- Maintain and enhance complex analytical processes, ensuring they are current and error-free.
- Act as the subject matter expert for actuarial analyses, providing detailed explanations of inputs and conclusions to internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the performance and success of the actuarial department and potentially other areas of the organization.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive and comprehensive analysis and reporting.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher within actuarial science.
Experience:
- At least 4 years of experience in actuarial analysis, preferably within the insurance industry.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with complex quantitative analyses for insurance companies or similar organizations.
- Knowledge of industry practices, standards, and concepts.
- Proficiency in SAS, SQL, or other programming languages.
- Understanding of insurance operations and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to innovate and improve existing processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least four exams passed towards ACAS.
- Knowledge of personal lines products
- At least four years of P&C actuarial experience.
Soft Skills:
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong decision-making skills within established guidelines and procedures.
- Proactive in identifying and addressing issues in analysis processes.
- Capability to train and guide less experienced staff.
- Excellent relationship management skills, both internally and externally.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in conveying complex analyses to senior management and external stakeholders.
